● Why Salt Quality Really Matters

We only supply pure Grade A PDV salt — because anything less can devastate your softener.

Some salts now entering the UK market (like sea salt, lake salt, and solar-evaporated varieties) aren’t actually cheaper — but they’re packed with things your softener really can’t handle.

⚠️ Here’s what can happen with the wrong salt:

  • Seafoam builds up inside your softener. This is often caused by algae or seaweed spores that thrive in salty environments — and once they’re in, they’re almost impossible to flush out. Your softener begins to breed algae because this type of algae thrives in saltwater environments.
  • You’ll also get oil residue from boats and ships — this coats everything internally and causes seals to slip, meaning parts stop fitting properly.
  • And then there’s the coarse and fine sand sediment, which can scratch the valve and damage precision components.

In short? It’s not worth the risk.

✅ Using Pure PDV Grade A salt protects your machine.

❌ Using poor-quality salt will invalidate your manufacturer’s guarantee — and could cost you far more than you save.
